Cairnhill Structures | Accreditations | Environmental Commitment
Cairnhill Structures' passion for steel fabrication is matched only by its commitment to the environment.
The company has launched a series of initiatives to contribute to EU environmental measures designed to tackle global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by the year 2020. Taking practical steps to tackle issues like global warming is a huge commitment, and a massive challenge for energy intensive, heavy engineering company like Cairnhill, but it is a challenge the company, its staff and directors all relish.
Cairnhill already has an impressive track record in confronting environmental issues. It is the only structural steelworks in Scotland to receive the British Construction Steelwork Association's Sustainability Gold Award through setting and meeting stringent environmental targets. It is also one of the few companies in its sector to measure its carbon footprint and to put in place steps to minimise its environmental impact by reducing emissions, and offsetting those that remain.
The company's environmental policy commits it to reducing the amount of emissions to air, to adopting the best practicable environmental practices, and to the prevention of pollution.
Cairnhill specifically commits to:
- reduce the amount of waste to landfill
- reduce the amount of greenhouse gases to the air
- reduce the amount of emissions of paint spray gases to the atmosphere
Continual improvement is central to the environmental philosophy of the company, and one of the key differentials between Cairnhill and its competitors in the field of structural steel engineering.
